On a slightly chilly but sunny autumnal afternoon, our road trip this week took us over to Farley, near Salisbury in Wiltshire for the wedding of Lizzie and Rob. It soon transpired that this was to be a wedding with a twist!
Through the winding country back roads and down a farm lane, we arrived late afternoon, and came across a small sign saying ‘car parking’ pointing to a field, and our destination for the night. We were all super excited to see what was in store!
After parking up, a quick glance to our left revealed a path lit by fairy lights leading to 3 HUGE teepees!!! Yes you read that correctly!
This was certainly a new one for the whole of TakeNote. With excited nerves, we waited discretely for speeches to end before a very quiet and swift set up all ready in time for a special request from the bridesmaids. We had been working secretly with them to provide a musical parody of ‘Black Horse and Cherry Tree’ for a very comical and musical bridesmaid speech, before the beautiful cake was cut.
The first dance was specifically requested by the newlyweds when Mat met with them before the big day, to run through all the finer details and to ensure that we had all the bases covered on the night, leaving them to concentrate on the most important part; having the best day of their lives!
‘Si tu vois ma mere’ by Bechet was the request for this evening, blending seamlessly into the Indiana Jones theme tune, (yes, you read that right too!). Alot of practice had been dedicated to this one. With the newlyweds taking to the floor (and the groom adorned in his Indian warrior hat!), the dance floor was immediately packed out with the rest of the guests joining them to dance… and that’s how it stayed for the rest of the evening, (with the homemade gin and brandy helping to create to some very interesting dance moves!) We teased the crowd throughout the entire second set with Mat playing only 2 bars from the other special request for the evening; Seven Nation Army. They went crazy when we finally broke into that tune, also learnt by request, with the dance floor in fine vocal (and foot stomping!) form for that one!
With the night being thoroughly enjoyed by all, (especially the bride and groom who were up and dancing the whole night long!), we wish you all the very best for the future as Mr & Mrs Houghton; Congratulations! Check out more photos on Instagram.
Matt and Take Note team, you totally made our day!!! Amazing, foot stomping, head banding, jive dancing, booty wiggling best band ever!!!! Xxxxxx
