Who doesn’t love a garden party? Take Note love them for sure! We rocked the countryside near Shirrell Heath to play for Ross’ big birthday bash.
Ross’ wife, Ali (better known as a Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me WINNER!) had a vision to transform the gorgeous family back garden into a party paradise, complete with a food tent fit for Royalty, a “Snug” any seasoned Glamper would be proud of, a fully stocked bar and of course the all important band stage!
Beautifully lit with candles and fairy lights, the garden turned into the most atmospheric space imaginable, and with Ross’ help we built the perfect soundtrack for guests to party the night away. With hits such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and even a special request of Ross’ favourite Stevie Wonder classic “Superstition”, the dance floor was filled as quickly as the guests glasses! The super slick bar staff made sure of that! Ross and Ali hired in some of the smoothest talking gents to look after their guests (a.k.a their son and his best friend!) – both looking the part with their “STAFF” t-shirts! A great touch!
To really “plus” the evening, we stepped up our game with a new addition to our effects arsenal; a Hazer (smoke machine) which really set the scene on the dance floor!
As for the food, it was a quite simply an exquisite sight to behold – and that’s before we even got to the taste!! Let us vouch for the fact that it tasted every bit as good as it looked!!
We all agreed it’s a party we won’t forget for some time! Every detail was executed to perfection and we were so pleased we could be a part of what was an utterly fantastic evening! Enjoy your holiday Ross & Ali! You’ve earned it!
Our debut at The Monks Brook was a fantastic night filled with friends new and old and a lovely warm welcome from the staff.
We demonstrated Jenga like skills as we puzzled our way into a snug corner of the pub and set up camp (we have yet to find a space we can’t fit into!) and put the finishing touches to our set list. The crowd were up and dancing from the offset, which egged us on to try out some new numbers, including a brasstastic version of a La Bamba/Twist & Shout mash up. For all you disco lovers out there we’ve also thrown in some iconic ABBA for good measure! Keep an eye on our repertoire as we have been busy learning lots of new songs…all will be revealed in the next few weeks!
The night flew past and before we knew it, last orders were upon us! The night wouldn’t be complete without an encore or two, and we finished the night with Living on a Prayer; one of our favourites!
A massive thank you to Rebecca and the team at The Monks Brook and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon!
Best band we’ve ever had, great to have brass with male and female vocals, such a change!
Saturday took us back to the Potters Heron Hotel in Ampfield, Romsey. After their devastating fire recently, we were glad to see the venue in such great shape for the Romsey, Chandler’s Ford and District Round Table Ladies’ night.
The event was a celebration not only of their long suffering good ladies, but also of their outgoing Chairman. It was in his closing address where the trouble and mischief started!
Well known for his long speeches, the other members decided to turn the (round) tables on Mr Guest, interrupting his speech with their cabaret show. With music fading in during his first sentence, a meticulously rehearsed dance routine then took place, along with a fantastic parody of the well loved Disney song Be Our Guest, entitled “Be John Guest”. The performance then evolved into a Robin Hood sketch which had the audience members laugh out loud and gasp with shock – what more could anyone want from a cabaret show?
The band then kicked into action with some high tempo songs from the very start. The dance floor was quickly filled with guests boogying the night away. The crowd singing along with Craig and Sarah, the audience were even running up to have selfies whilst we were playing – what a great party atmosphere! With slick solos from Mat and massive fat punchy brass notes from the all girl brass line up, it was a great evening had by all, with lots of money raised for local charities to boot.
“Great night at the Potters Heron, great band, would highly recommend” – Janine C
“They were brilliant xxx” – Kerry
