It’s fair to say that the 2018 Festival Season is well and truly underway, and what better way to celebrate your 50th Birthday than with a festival of your very own? That’s exactly what the lovely Clare did!
Arriving at a field marked with balloons close to Hedge End, Southampton, the Take Note crew were greeted with a sea of glitter and sparkles any seasoned festival goer would be proud of! It’s fair to say that guests really embraced the theme! We quickly set up in the marquee, which was next to the inflatable bar (yes you read that right!) and hog roast tent, in the centre of the party action. The festival was already in full swing with tents being set up all around us and some seriously impressive motor homes pulling onto the site. Mat even set up Home for the evening!
We unloaded the gear and got set for a riotous evening; the crowd certainly didn’t disappoint! Matthew made his dep sax debut, and treated us all to a stonking solo.
Clare left the play list up to us, simply requesting “a little something to keep everyone happy” and so we ensured we played a variety of classics from across the decades. Needless to say, “Sex on Fire” and “Mr Brightside” went down a storm in the buzzing festival tent, with a full crowd singalong as we blasted “Don’t Stop Believin” as our final song of the night.
A special mention must go to the birthday girl; not only for having us but for her simply fabulous rendition of “Valerie” – she was absolutely brilliant; all the more so thanks to her light up wellies purchased especially for the occasion! She was joined by her daughter Maddie and all we can say is watch out X Factor – there’s a new Duo in town!
A massive thanks to Clare from all of us here at Take Note HQ for inviting us along to make your special day one to remember – we had the best time (even if we’re still finding glitter now!) Rock On!
We had the best time ever!!! Surrounded by great friends with fabulous music. You guys absolutely rocked it, we have had sooooo many compliments for you from friends, reckon you’ll be busy with the amount of times we gave your details out. If you ever need an additional singer just let me now!! – Clare
Who doesn’t love a garden party? Take Note love them for sure! We rocked the countryside near Shirrell Heath to play for Ross’ big birthday bash.
Ross’ wife, Ali (better known as a Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me WINNER!) had a vision to transform the gorgeous family back garden into a party paradise, complete with a food tent fit for Royalty, a “Snug” any seasoned Glamper would be proud of, a fully stocked bar and of course the all important band stage!
Beautifully lit with candles and fairy lights, the garden turned into the most atmospheric space imaginable, and with Ross’ help we built the perfect soundtrack for guests to party the night away. With hits such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and even a special request of Ross’ favourite Stevie Wonder classic “Superstition”, the dance floor was filled as quickly as the guests glasses! The super slick bar staff made sure of that! Ross and Ali hired in some of the smoothest talking gents to look after their guests (a.k.a their son and his best friend!) – both looking the part with their “STAFF” t-shirts! A great touch!
To really “plus” the evening, we stepped up our game with a new addition to our effects arsenal; a Hazer (smoke machine) which really set the scene on the dance floor!
As for the food, it was a quite simply an exquisite sight to behold – and that’s before we even got to the taste!! Let us vouch for the fact that it tasted every bit as good as it looked!!
We all agreed it’s a party we won’t forget for some time! Every detail was executed to perfection and we were so pleased we could be a part of what was an utterly fantastic evening! Enjoy your holiday Ross & Ali! You’ve earned it!
It was a welcome return to the The Rising Sun in Colden Common for some of the band, and what a lovely pub it is too! Lots of friendly locals and we received a very warm welcome from all of the staff as well (sorry for making you move all the tables!).
Although it was a somewhat cozy affair, we managed to squeeze in and set up camp for the evening, both playing for the pub and celebrating Sam’s 40th birthday. The guests were in fine vocal form once more, and yet again executed some amazing (and somewhat eye watering!) dance moves that were a thing to behold, (no doubt helped by some of the delights available behind the bar!).
Our first set flew by at what felt like record pace, managing to squeeze in 17 floor fillers before a short break to wet our whistles!
Our return was marked by a rapturous Happy Birthday played by the band, and then it was back to business. After pulling out a melody of “Rock Around the Clock” and “Hound Dog” from our song vault, (as a special request from one of the guests; we hadn’t played it in ages; we had forgotten they are such fun songs to play), we cracked on with the set throwing in some Michael Jackson, Girls Aloud….. even S Club 7 made an appearance!
Another fantastic night, with a top class audience and amazing staff; what more could we ask for? Well a couple of elderflower gins after we packed up to be honest….. Perfect!
