Who doesn’t love a garden party? Take Note love them for sure! We rocked the countryside near Shirrell Heath to play for Ross’ big birthday bash.
Ross’ wife, Ali (better known as a Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me WINNER!) had a vision to transform the gorgeous family back garden into a party paradise, complete with a food tent fit for Royalty, a “Snug” any seasoned Glamper would be proud of, a fully stocked bar and of course the all important band stage!
Beautifully lit with candles and fairy lights, the garden turned into the most atmospheric space imaginable, and with Ross’ help we built the perfect soundtrack for guests to party the night away. With hits such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and even a special request of Ross’ favourite Stevie Wonder classic “Superstition”, the dance floor was filled as quickly as the guests glasses! The super slick bar staff made sure of that! Ross and Ali hired in some of the smoothest talking gents to look after their guests (a.k.a their son and his best friend!) – both looking the part with their “STAFF” t-shirts! A great touch!
To really “plus” the evening, we stepped up our game with a new addition to our effects arsenal; a Hazer (smoke machine) which really set the scene on the dance floor!
As for the food, it was a quite simply an exquisite sight to behold – and that’s before we even got to the taste!! Let us vouch for the fact that it tasted every bit as good as it looked!!
We all agreed it’s a party we won’t forget for some time! Every detail was executed to perfection and we were so pleased we could be a part of what was an utterly fantastic evening! Enjoy your holiday Ross & Ali! You’ve earned it!
The Take Note UK crew love a new venue, and Saturday certainly didn’t disappoint! The Kings Arms in Shirley, Southampton was our home for the night, and what a welcome we were given! Having never played at the venue we didn’t know exactly what to expect. We were greeted by the lovely Kristina, who immediately made us feel at home and part of the team.
After setup was complete, we had time for a quick catchup before heading on to perform. We had an unusual start to the gig as Sarah was singing backing vocals but with not a note to be heard from her mouth, (unusual for our Sarah to be quiet!) It seems that actually plugging your microphone into the mixing desk always helps…(in the immortal words of Meghan Trainor her ‘Lips Are Movin’…..!!)
The crowd were in great voice throughout the night and danced right the way through; the floor didn’t clear all evening! We played a whole host of tracks including “Valerie” which the audience sang all the words to, along with “Park Life” and “Mr Brightside” It was great to see lots of friends in the pub who had seen all the event on Facebook.
Craig was joined on vocals by one of the pub’s regular Karaoke Kings, and what a dynamic duo they made!
The evening ended with not one, but THREE encores – (we got the impression they liked us?!) With the crowd chanting for a repeat of “Sex on Fire” after Sarah making a pinky promise with the lovely Tania that we would oblige! (nobody can break a pinky promise…Right??)
A fantastic evening and we can’t wait to be back in the Kings Arms soon!
“Can’t thank you enough you were all outstanding can’t wait to have you back! x
Nothing but amazing feedback xx” – Kristina, Landlady

Our second event for the weekend was to celebrate the 10th Wedding Anniversary of Carmen and Gareth! You raised the roof! So happy we could share your party with you. 10 years married, huge congrats from all at Take Note HQ and thank you for having us! What a fantastic bunch of people to share the evening with!
One of the requirements of this event was to ensure the volume was suitable as the hotel is in a residential area of Southampton. Due to our setup this was not a problem at all, through careful balanced mixing we were able to have a great party without a single request to turn down. We even received the comment from the hotel management; even though initially concerned having a 7 piece band with brass; they had four piece groups who were far louder and thanked us for accommodating their needs.
“Thank you so much for playing at our party, we had a fabulous time and lots of compliments on our band. cheers guys – would definitely recommend you guys x x x”
We were glad to help facilitate such a special moment with the recreation of Carmen and Gareth’s first dance. What a wonderful 10th anniversary celebration, may you have many more years of happiness together.
