Last Friday saw Team Take Note UK head over to Warsash Sailing Club to celebrate the marriage of Helen and Robert; a beautiful venue set within the stunning backdrop of Warsash Harbour.
The day was running a little behind schedule when we arrived (as all great Weddings do!) which was no trouble for the team; we called a quick “car park meeting” to set in place our call to action for when the Best Man gave us the all clear to come in. To say it ran as a military operation is perhaps a little exaggerated, but we were in and set up in a record breaking 40 minutes… we’ll take that! Great effort by all involved (even Sarah had a hand in the set up!)
The evening began with the happy couple enjoying their first dance. Strictly Come Dancing can stand aside; Helen and Robert owned the floor! A huge 10/10 from us! After the couple took their bow we were straight in with our first number, which saw the guests immediately take to the floor. It’s fair to say that most of them proceeded to stay there for the evening!
We had a few special requests that were our absolute pleasure to perform. “Pencil Full of Lead” by Paulo Nutini was a real crowd pleaser (and will now be a firm addition to our set!) along with “Play That Funky Music” which provided the opportunity for some pretty awesome dance moves! “Everybody Needs Somebody” by The Blues Brothers showed us all that a true classic never goes out of fashion, and we had a lot of fun playing that track to what was one our most receptive audiences to date!
A massive thank you to the New Mr and Mrs Dawson for inviting us to share your special day. You both looked stunning and so very much in love, it was a joy to be able to play for you. We hope to see you and your guests at a future gig very soon!
“Thanks for keeping the dance floor filled on Friday night, we had the Best Day and so many people commented on how amazing you guys were…” “So good, even my dad got dancing!”
As part of our September double header weekend we visited for the first time the Chandlers Ford Central Club. As soon as we walked in we were made welcome by the committee. Lots of familiar faces were there from neighbours through to work colleagues! Once setup we ran our set list playing classics such as “Beggin’” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons right though to modern day hits as “Rather Be” by Jess Glynne.
Mat was trying out a brand new virtual guitar rig instead of his usual Kemper profiling rig and the sound was nearly identical, ensuring we always have backup options. Unusually for us we had been requested to run a three set evening rather than our typical two set formation, this posed no problem for us as we seamlessly adapted our playlist to suit the audience.
Before we went on stage for our third set we had been booked in for two more performances at the club which is always really pleasing to hear! By the end of the night we had everyone on the dance floor for a boogie and the variety of tracks received praise from lots of members – #Result.
It’s fair to say that the 2018 Festival Season is well and truly underway, and what better way to celebrate your 50th Birthday than with a festival of your very own? That’s exactly what the lovely Clare did!
Arriving at a field marked with balloons close to Hedge End, Southampton, the Take Note crew were greeted with a sea of glitter and sparkles any seasoned festival goer would be proud of! It’s fair to say that guests really embraced the theme! We quickly set up in the marquee, which was next to the inflatable bar (yes you read that right!) and hog roast tent, in the centre of the party action. The festival was already in full swing with tents being set up all around us and some seriously impressive motor homes pulling onto the site. Mat even set up Home for the evening!
We unloaded the gear and got set for a riotous evening; the crowd certainly didn’t disappoint! Matthew made his dep sax debut, and treated us all to a stonking solo.
Clare left the play list up to us, simply requesting “a little something to keep everyone happy” and so we ensured we played a variety of classics from across the decades. Needless to say, “Sex on Fire” and “Mr Brightside” went down a storm in the buzzing festival tent, with a full crowd singalong as we blasted “Don’t Stop Believin” as our final song of the night.
A special mention must go to the birthday girl; not only for having us but for her simply fabulous rendition of “Valerie” – she was absolutely brilliant; all the more so thanks to her light up wellies purchased especially for the occasion! She was joined by her daughter Maddie and all we can say is watch out X Factor – there’s a new Duo in town!
A massive thanks to Clare from all of us here at Take Note HQ for inviting us along to make your special day one to remember – we had the best time (even if we’re still finding glitter now!) Rock On!
We had the best time ever!!! Surrounded by great friends with fabulous music. You guys absolutely rocked it, we have had sooooo many compliments for you from friends, reckon you’ll be busy with the amount of times we gave your details out. If you ever need an additional singer just let me now!! – Clare
