Helen & Rob’s Warsash Wedding

Last Friday saw Team Take Note UK head over to Warsash Sailing Club to celebrate the marriage of Helen and Robert; a beautiful venue set within the stunning backdrop of Warsash Harbour.

The day was running a little behind schedule when we arrived (as all great Weddings do!) which was no trouble for the team; we called a quick “car park meeting” to set in place our call to action for when the Best Man gave us the all clear to come in. To say it ran as a military operation is perhaps a little exaggerated, but we were in and set up in a record breaking 40 minutes… we’ll take that! Great effort by all involved (even Sarah had a hand in the set up!)

The evening began with the happy couple enjoying their first dance. Strictly Come Dancing can stand aside; Helen and Robert owned the floor! A huge 10/10 from us! After the couple took their bow we were straight in with our first number, which saw the guests immediately take to the floor. It’s fair to say that most of them proceeded to stay there for the evening!

We had a few special requests that were our absolute pleasure to perform. “Pencil Full of Lead” by Paulo Nutini was a real crowd pleaser (and will now be a firm addition to our set!) along with “Play That Funky Music” which provided the opportunity for some pretty awesome dance moves! “Everybody Needs Somebody” by The Blues Brothers showed us all that a true classic never goes out of fashion, and we had a lot of fun playing that track to what was one our most receptive audiences to date!

A massive thank you to the New Mr and Mrs Dawson for inviting us to share your special day. You both looked stunning and so very much in love, it was a joy to be able to play for you. We hope to see you and your guests at a future gig very soon!

“Thanks for keeping the dance floor filled on Friday night, we had the Best Day and so many people commented on how amazing you guys were…”
“So good, even my dad got dancing!”

Julie’s 50th Birthday Party

On Friday we were M27 bound and heading over to Sarisbury Green for Julie’s 50th birthday party. We arrived to a hall decked out with bunting, of which the fabric had been donated by the guests; each triangle had a special connection to Julie and was definitely a conversation starter… especially the 5 pairs of boxer shorts hanging amongst the triangles!

Whilst we set up on stage, Julie and her family put the final touches to the hall and then disappeared to get ready. Julie had been treated by one of her close friends to a tailor made dress, and she looked simply stunning!

We were set, sound checked and ready to go when guests began to arrive, with some carefully selected music playing in the room to create an atmosphere to get the party off to a flying start. The band were treated to some delicious food while we waited to start, all provided by Julie’s best friend and family… a sure fire way to score brownie points with us; via our stomachs!

We hit the stage at 9 for our first set, a highlight for us was singing Our House by Madness with the whole of Fareham Musical Society as our backing singers… thanks for the support! Just before we headed off stage for a short break we handed the microphone to Julie’s husband Richard who gave a beautiful speech before leading everybody in singing Happy Birthday whilst Julie cut her rainbow unicorn birthday cake!

We came back on stage playing Julie’s favourite song – Proud Mary – which filled the dance floor! We kept with the disco vibe with numbers such as Celebration and Car Wash, before the arrival of some very special guests… Julie’s son and cast mates who had been busy performing in Petersfield before heading over to join the party! Some of the guys joined us on stage to form an 11 piece band for the final few numbers. Playing hits such as September, Walking on Sunshine and Crazy in Love with an extra trumpet, trombone and saxophone created what really was a phenomenal sound, really making Julie’s night one to remember!

It was such a privilege to be apart of this celebration and we hope Julie enjoyed the night as much as we did! More fabulous photos (courtesy of Matthew) from this event are over on our Instagram.

Loved the band and I have heard a fair few after 20 years of live music in the pub! Great set choice – varied over the years – always a winner to have brass it sets you aside and the bonus of a male and female singer is more genres being covered! Win win – thank you for a great nights entertainment!” – Hayley (Guest)

“Big thank you , such a great band and very lovely people” – Lynne (Guest)
