Joint 70th and 21st Birthday Celebration

So it was our last event of 2017 and what a great night it was! It was our first visit to the Solent Hotel & Spa in Whitely and what a beautiful setting for a joint party, celebrating Carole’s 70th and Emily’s 21st Birthdays; made even more special by the fact it was guitarist Mat’s Mum and Niece!!!

We were playing in the Carisbrook suite which looked amazing with sophisticated birthday decorations and private cocktail bar! We were all pretty sure this was going to be a great night from the moment we arrived.

The entertainment kicked of with a special acoustic song that Sarah and Mat sang for the birthday girls, followed by a rousing “happy birthday” with everyone showing their voices talents early on, setting the bar high for the rest of the evening!

Then it was business as usual, kicking off the first set with a bit of Robbie, followed by a dance floor filling selection of hits from the last few decades… judging by the piles of handbags on the dance floor, we think we got the song selection right! The second set started in the same way that we finished the first, with our faithful dancers back and ready for more. Now, it’s not unusual to get requests from guests (convinced they are on par with an X Factor finalist) to come and sing with the band, especially after plenty of Dutch courage, but tonight it was a request we could not turn down.
The beautiful Lilly who is only 5 years old asked Sarah if she could sing a song with her, and they both agreed Shake It Off by Taylor Swift was the perfect choice! Lilly was absolutely amazing and sang the whole song with the band in full swing…. she quite frankly stole the show. Definitely a star in the making there…..check out the video below…. it’s the cutest thing ever!

It was a fantastic event, with great people and an amazing way to close our 2017 calendar.

“A great big thankyou to Take Note! It was a fantastic evening and your brilliant band and music made it even enjoyable. Roll on next occasion xx” – Carole

2017 has been the best yet for us. We have played in pubs, halls, a brand new luxury hotel and even a teepee! We have entertained at weddings, anniversaries, vowel renewals, birthdays and beer festivals. We would like to thank friends old and new for your support and anyone who has put their faith in us to be a part of their special occasion. We all can’t wait to see what 2018 brings.

Happy New Year!

Beth & George’s Wedding

We hit the road again … well the Skylark Golf and Country Club, Fareham, actually for Beth and George’s wedding! With an early start to ensure we were set up before the days celebrations began, the beautiful surroundings certainly took the edge off the long day ahead of us, (with the guests partying hard until 1am!) Acres of stunning grounds, coupled with a beautifully sunny, cloud free autumnal day!

Setting up proved to be a little bit trickier than usual with the stage being very “intimate”, but with a bit of organising from the brass section and a touch of Take Note Team work, we were able to get at least 5 of the members on stage – allowing our 2 fabulous vocalists to really interact with the wedding guests throughout the evening.

With the set list perfected by our guitarist Mat, Craig was up first to perform the first dance song for the newlyweds. What an amazing song – ‘Perfect’ (by Ed Sheeran), learnt by request, rehearsed and performed especially for the occasion.

We loved Beth’s choice in Wedding dress – incorporating lace & buttons down the back and train; she certainly gave Pippa Middleton a run for her money! Complimented perfectly by the beautiful burgundy bridesmaids dresses, who all looked utterly gorgeous!

With a small interlude for cake cutting, the band prepared themselves for what was to be a non-stop party for the wedding guests. The dance floor was absolutely heaving from the first number!

A brief break between sets, we were all determined to keep the momentum up for the entire evening to allow everyone to celebrate the start of a brand new adventure for George & Beth as the new Mr and Mrs Glass. From us all here at Take Note HQ, we wish the happy couple all the best for the future. Many Congratulations!
